Rashid Omar Handed Late Notice Commonwealth Title Opportunity
In an unexpected turn of events, Cardiff's Rashid Omar has been offered an opportunity to capture the second title of his professional career.
The durable 36-year-old, who is better known as 'Brickfists', has had a frustrating 12-months where he has suffered four straight defeats.
This has not stopped him chasing the biggest fights possible however and he now has the chance to become a champion once again.
Omar captured the first belt of his career back in February of 2023 when he defeated Port Talbot's Conor McIntosh on points to claim the vacant Welsh Area lightweight title.
As revealed earlier this week, Omar will challenge Blackburn's Thomas Varey for the Commonwealth International super-lightweight crown on Saturday June 13.
The ten round clash is set to take place at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton and will be promoted by Steve Wood's VIP Promotions.
Varey, who is unbeaten in all 12 of his professional bouts, poses yet another solid challenge for 'Brickfists' who will be looking to bounce back and pick up a huge win on the road.
Victory for Omar will see the 36-year-old re-establish himself on the domestic scene and begin a new chapter in his professional boxing career.
