Cardiff's Joe Cordina appears to have secured himself an opportunity at becoming a three-time, two-division world champion.

The 34-year-old was last in action back in December when he defeated Gabriel Flores Jr by unanimous decision at the conclusion of their showdown in Stockton, California.

Victory over Flores secured Cordina's status as mandatory challenger to WBO World lightweight champion Abdullah Mason.

After months of waiting, Cordina's clash with the highly-rated American looks to have been confirmed.

As revealed on the Inside The Ring Show, 'The Welsh Wizard' will challenge Mason for the WBO lightweight crown on Saturday July 4.

The intriguing 135lb match-up is set to take place at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland and will be shown exclusively on DAZN around the globe.

Cordina, who has previously held the IBF World super-featherweight title on two separate occasions, will have his sights set on etching his name into the Welsh boxing history books by becoming one of the few fighters from his homeland to win a world title in more than one weight class.
