Rhys Edwards All Set For British Title Challenge
Tonypandy's Rhys Edwards is just days away from challenging for the British Featherweight title on a stacked bill at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff.
The highly-rated 26-year-old will face Wolverhampton's Gully Powar for the vacant 126lb Lonsdale Belt on the undercard of Lauren Price's world title defence against Puerto Rico's Stephanie Pineiro.
Price is set to defend her unified WBC, WBA and IBF world welterweight titles as she looks to move a step closer to achieving undisputed status at 147lbs.
Edwards has had an impressive professional career to date, winning all but one of the 18 contests he has participated in since he made his debut back in November of 2018.
He suffered the only defeat of his tenure in December 2024 when he was narrowly outpointed by the highly-rated Peter McGrail at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Victory on Saturday night would see Edwards become the latest Welshman to capture a version of the coveted Lord Lonsdale Belt, an exceptional feat for one of the country's most talented fighters.
