Porthcawl's James Atkins has hit the scales ahead of his showdown with Doncaster's Joe Hayden on Friday evening.
The unbeaten 32-year-old is set to face Hayden (21-0) for the vacant Commonwealth Silver and Commonwealth International Welterweight belts at the Doncaster Dome tomorrow night as he sets his sights on capturing his first professional titles.
Atkins was last in action back in November when he defeated Newport's Garth Noot via referees decision at the conclusion of their four-rounder at The Galleries in Bristol.
The Porthcawl-native is unbeaten in nine contests since making his professional debut against Evgenii Vazem at the LC2 Swansea in November of 2021.
Hayden is currently trained and managed by popular British heavyweight Dave Allen, who has shared the ring with the likes of Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte and Arslanbek Makhmudov during his own career.
The unbeaten duo successfully weighed in under the Welterweight limit on Thursday afternoon, with both fighters tipping the scales at around 146lbs.
Whilst he is faced with what is undoubtedly the toughest test of his career to date, Atkins has the opportunity to introduce himself as a serious contender on the domestic welterweight scene should he prevail against the unbeaten Englishman in just over 24-hours.
