Gavin Gwynne's long-awaited return to action has been confirmed as he gears up to face yet another unbeaten British prospect.
The 35-year-old's most recent ring appearance came back in November when his rematch with Cameron Vuong was declared a majority draw after a competitive 10-rounds in Birmingham.
It had been argued that Gwynne had done more than enough to get his hand raised in both of his showdowns with Vuong, but it wasn't to be for the former British, European and Commonwealth lightweight champion.
With his 25th professional ring appearance on the horizon, Gwynne is set to lock horns with another undefeated Englishman who has been tipped to achieve big things on the domestic scene.
As revealed by Queensberry Promotions on Thursday evening, Gwynne will face Bolton's Khaleel Majid in a ten round super-lightweight clash on Saturday May 9.
The domestic bout is set to take place on the undercard of Fabio Wardley's WBO world heavyweight title defence against countryman Daniel Dubois at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.
Majid extended his unblemished professional record to 16-0 last November when he outpointed Ireland's David Ryan at the conclusion of their clash in Manchester.
The 28-year-old has had a positive start to his career but will be faced with his toughest test to date when he goes toe-to-toe with 'The Merthyr Mexican' in just under two months.
